My name is Heather Whitener, from the start I had a love for animals. I always had to be surrounded by them. I was a natural care giver. Many of us are like that as children. Our hearts are giant. As I got older and my involvement with the dog community got deeper, I realized I wanted this as my career. To which direction would I take it? I started my journey probably before I can remember. I Loved animals. More specifically I loved DOGS!!!!!! From the age of 10 I was venturing out with my childhood dog Nikki. We would spend hours every day at the dog park. For years we were inseparable. At the age of 9 I taught Nikki, Sit, Lay down, Stay, And my #1 favorite, HIGH FIVE. She was an abused mutt we rescued through The Animal Foundation in 1998. An unexpected adoption was the greatest gift to me as a child. As I got older Nikki and I would walk about 2 miles a day. We would walk every where. On February 29, 2004 my life was put on a path I could only dream of. I ventured to Petsmart the day before. The very one i had adopted Nikki At 6 years earlier. There was a rescue set up out side dogs all over! I was in heaven. I later realized my dog being on a leash out side a kennel was kind of rude to the other pups so I flagged a young girl like myself down and asked a few questions. She handed me a Volunteer form and That was is. For 3 Solid years My Weekends were devoted to caring for the rescue dogs. I wouldn't spend any time at home on the weekends, I was gone at sunrise and home after dinner. Opportunities started presenting themselves as my knowledge and experience grew. Into the Daycare boarding industry I went. It came natural. Watching all the dogs interact... Knowing exactly when to drive the attention else where or step in. remaining calm while you have 30+ dogs at a time running around all over that YOU are responsible for. The years at the dog park that is all I did; pay attention to all the dogs at play, I was fascinated. It Carried through. I excelled in that department. So I started venturing to other sides. Veterinary Assistant was next in my adventure to gain as much knowledge and experience as I could. I graduated in 2013 From Pima Medical Institute. Remained in the Vet Field for a couple years until I realized that was not the side that drove me. Diving back into Boarding again I came realized the demand on Rescue Organizations and Grooming Costs were just not working. I had the thought one day rescues cant pay for grooming.... But why are they even being charged. These are Unowned dogs that have been through hell and back. How could any groomer turn their back on a dog that is desperate for a hair cut because they don't have money. So I Became a groomer. Not for the intent to ever make a profit off of it. But my skills have been amazing in the industry of pet grooming. Lets just say I get all the trouble makers or so I'm warned...This passion has driven me my entire life. This is where my experience and creativity come together. My vison for In Our Nature Pet Care was born in 2016. Although it wasn't until 2020 during a pandemic did I take that leap to starting the business officially.
February 29, 2004 I entered the world of Rescue. From that day forward my life changed. I am honored to support A Path 4 Paws and its mission here in Las Vegas! Naomi is one of the Bravest and strongest women I know and I am privileged to have worked under such an amazing women.
